Statistics and Data Analysis Training
I'm back! Whew! Finally nakabalik na ako. Missed you guyz!

I just came from that five-day training. Kakapagod talaga. But super fun at nakakatuwa kasi yung buong training ay puro MATH and economics! Super happy ko talaga and I really enjoyed it.

Ito ang ilan sa mga nangyari during the training:

  • Na'OP ako nung first day. (out-of-place talaga. wala akong kakilala nung dumating ako kaya umupo ako sa pinakadulo ng right side na long table. pero inisip ko nalang, "Jesus is with me. No need to be scared. God provides me strength and it's His plan why I'm here. 1 Timothy 4:12! 1 Timothy 4:12!")
  • I'm the only teen. (opo. ako ang pinakabata. siguro yung ibang participants' ages would range from 29-60+ year old. hahaha.)
  • My co-participants were government epmloyees. (mga nasa statistics section or database ng iba't ibang offices ng City Hall of Davao like City Planning and Development Coordinator, City Health Office, Department of Edcuation, PNP, City Social Services and Development Office, Local City Registrar, City Legal, and a lot more.)
  • Ako ang taga compute at taga-analyze sa group namin. (palusot ng mga kasama ko - from City Social Services Office o CSSDO, Kabataan Consortium Inc., and Balay Pasilungan Inc. - 15-20 years ago na daw nila natake-up yung statistics. Buti pa daw ako kasi fresh pa sakin. Ayun.
(wow. what a great opportunity! Thank you Lord! Natuwa ako sa news na ito from them. Bibigyan nalang daw nila ako ng job order. Hehe.)
  • Naging close ko ang mga participants. (this was the best part kasi aside from marami na akong natutunan, I gained friends from the City Government of Davao. buti nalang daw may youth participation.

The speaker on the first three days was Dr. Eduardo Cruz, Professor II, School of Applied Economics, University of Southeastern Philippines. He discussed the following topics on Statistics:
  • Basic Definitions and Elements of Statistics
  • Discrete and Continouos Numerical Data
  • Level of Measurement fro Numerical Data
  • Descriptive Graphs and Frequency Distribution
  • Various Types of Descriptive Measures
  • Measures of Central Tendency
  • Measures of Position
  • Grouped Data
  • Statistical Inference
  • Estimation and Statistical Hypothesis
  • One-tailed VS Two-tailed Means and Variances
  • Test concerning proportions

The last two days' topics were discussed by Ms. Estie Turingan, Regional Head, National Statistical Coordination Board, Region XI. Her topic was about Statistics on Local Development Planning, its indicators and the poverty mapping.

The program was ended by inspiring messages from Ms. Cresencia F. Dela Victoria, Economist IV, Division Chief, Research and Statistics Division of the Office of the City Planning and Development Coordinator; and Mr. Mario Luis J. Jacinto, Programme Coordinator of the City Planning and Development Coordinator, CPC - Country Programme for Children - VI.

As a whole, I really had fun and I really thanked God for the strength and the confidence. Truly His Word is too powerful!

"Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young but set an example for all the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity."
1 Timothy 4:12

Truly share your gifts for God's glory. I didn't expect that God would use me this way. I am just in my youth but praise Him for His great revelations each day. Thank you Lord for feeding me and for entrusting me to take care and use these gifts you have blessed me.

"Everything will soon come to an end. So be serious and be sensible enough to pray. Most important of all, you must sincerely love each other, because love wipes away many sins. Welcome people into your home and don't grumble about it. Each of you has been blessed with one of God's many wonderful gifts to be used in the service of others. So use your gift well. If you have the gift of speaking, preach God's message. If you have the gift of helping others, do it with the strength that God supplies. Everything should be done in a way that will bring honor to God because of Jesus Christ, who is glorious and powerful forever. Amen.
1 Peter 4:7-11

God bless you all. Use what God has given you. You don't know what God has for you next, but remember this, it's more than what you expected.
